Project Overview and Approach

Transforming the Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise was one of our most ambitious projects of the year, and the results were nothing short of spectacular. This massive exterior painting project required meticulous planning and flawless execution to bring a renewed look to the hospital’s facade. We faced significant challenges, including extensive surface preparation and unpredictable weather conditions, but our dedicated team tackled every obstacle with professionalism and precision. Using an exterior filler, we painstakingly worked to create a smooth, seamless finish across the walls, essentially re-plastering large sections. The process was time-intensive, but the stunning final outcome made every effort worthwhile.

Surface preparation was fundamental to achieving the immaculate finish we envisioned. We utilized the sponge technique to seamlessly blend the plaster and filler with the existing substrate, ensuring a cohesive and flawless appearance. For optimal protection and durability, we applied the full Dulux Weathershield system, chosen specifically for its shower-resistant formula. This system was crucial in maintaining a smooth workflow despite the mixed weather conditions. The support and collaboration we received from everyone involved, including GPT Hire and Lift Hire Ireland for hoist services, power washing teams, and our skilled group of painters, were instrumental in completing the project on time. A special thanks goes to Wayne, whose hard work and dedication helped us stay on schedule, and to Owen Byrne from Dulux, who provided invaluable data sheets and product guidance throughout.
